Shelby Johnson
Coach Shelby Johnson is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She has 10+ years of experience coaching weight lifting classes and small group private classes—specializing in strength and conditioning for athletes.
Shelby grew up in Parker, Colorado and moved to Provo to attend BYU. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Wellness with a minor in Business. Shelby participated in a wide variety of sports her whole life. She excelled at softball and lacrosse and was team captain of the BYU Women’s Lacrosse team for two years.
After graduating, she became the Strength & Conditioning Coach for BYU Women’s Lacrosse and the head coach shortly after. She also began working at a private gym in Orem in 2013 where she trained female soccer, lacrosse and volleyball athletes. She ran the gym as the head trainer until 2023.
Because of her passion for sports, Shelby has always been fascinated by the physiology of the human body. She’s always understood that what she ate and how hard she trained would affect the way her body performed on the field. She’s determined to help others—both athletes and non-athletes—understand their bodies and love them. Shelby is continually pushing herself to learn more and find new ways to inspire and motivate her clients, and she knows that the needs of individual clients are always very personal.
Shelby is the wife of a firefighter and mother to 3 children!
